I am delighted to have been appointed Artistic Director and Conductor of the Choir of the 21st Century (CC21) from January 2018. It is an honour to be succeeding the distinguished choral and orchestral conductor, Howard Williams, who founded CC21 and has conducted the choir for the past seventeen years. We are fortunate that Howard’s wife, soprano Emma Kirkby, has agreed to become the choir’s Patron. I am looking forward to making plans for the 2018 season with Howard. The choir is vocally rich and colourful, made up of over thirty accomplished singers, many of whom sing professionally, and operates on a project basis, with four rehearsals leading up to concerts (five per year) and has an unusually wide-ranging repertoire, from Josquin to Strauss and Mahler, through to Copland and Maxwell Davies. Plans for 2018 will appear here in due course, and on the choir’s website: www.cc21.org.uk.
