It was terrific to direct the Choir of St Mary’s, Wimbledon, for the three services in Westminster Abbey on New Year’s Day. We sang Stanford’s Te Deum in B Flat, Britten’s Jubilate in C, Byrd’s Four Part Mass, Howells’ Collegium Regale Canticles, Ord’s Adam Lay y bounden and Darke’s In the Bleak Midwinter. The 38 singers rose to the occasion magnificently, tempering their New Year’s celebrations so as to be ready for rehearsal in the Abbey at 8:50am!
