To mark Passiontide the Choir of St Mary’s, Wimbledon tackled Domenico Scarlatti’s demanding ten-part Stabat Mater, a work I became fond of while a chorister at King’s College, Cambridge, when the choir recorded the work. This was performed with baroque continuo, alongside a cappella works by Tallis, Byrd, Lotti, Palestrina and Schütz and Poulenc.
